Your appointment, step by step
History & discussion
We start with a proper conversation - what's going on, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and how it's affecting your day. Your history shapes the whole assessment.
Clinical & biomechanical assessment
A hands-on examination of the foot and ankle, how you stand and walk, joint and muscle function, and your footwear - plus in-clinic diagnostic ultrasound where it helps pinpoint the cause.
Diagnosis & explanation
We tell you what we've found in plain language, show you what's driving the problem, and answer your questions. No jargon, no guesswork.
Your treatment plan
A staged, conservative-first plan tailored to you - often starting the same day. Where advanced therapy or a procedure is warranted, we explain the options, timelines and costs before anything goes ahead.
What to bring
A few things help us assess you thoroughly. Don't worry if you can't find everything - just bring what you can.
- Any GP or specialist referral (not required to book, but helpful)
- Your Medicare card, EPC care-plan referral and private health fund card
- The shoes you wear most often, plus any orthotics you currently use
- A list of current medications and relevant medical history
- Any previous scans, X-rays or reports relating to your feet or ankles
First-visit FAQs
How long does the first appointment take?
A first (initial) consultation usually runs 30-45 minutes - long enough for a thorough history, assessment and a clear plan. Follow-up and treatment appointments are typically shorter.
Will I get treatment on the first visit?
Often, yes. Many people begin treatment the same day - for example padding and strapping, nail care, or starting an orthotic or shockwave plan. For anything more involved, we explain the options and costs first.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
Not much. Wear or bring the shoes you spend most time in, and bring any relevant scans, referrals and your fund/Medicare cards. If a specific activity brings on your pain, let us know.
Do I need a referral?
No - you can book directly. A GP referral is only needed to claim under a Medicare EPC care plan or DVA.
