Why refer here

Care you can't always deliver, and won't have to send far.

Bexley Podiatry takes on the presentations other clinics refer on - assessed, imaged and treated under one roof, with you kept in the loop.

Podiatric surgical registrar

Complex and surgical-grade presentations are worked up by our podiatric surgical registrar (Australasian College of Podiatric Surgery), with onward referral where a specialist surgeon is required.

In-clinic diagnostic ultrasound

Real-time soft-tissue imaging on site means faster, more accurate diagnosis without waiting on external imaging for many presentations.

Ultrasound-guided injections

In-house corticosteroid and, where suitable, regenerative injection therapy - targeted under ultrasound guidance rather than referred out.

Endorsed for scheduled medicines

Podiatrists endorsed to prescribe scheduled medicines, so appropriate pharmacological management can be started in-clinic.

Minor procedures on site

Nail surgery and other in-scope minor procedures are performed in-clinic under local anaesthetic - no hospital referral needed for many cases.

Reporting back to you

We co-manage, keep you in the loop with structured correspondence, and refer the patient back to your care.

What we take referrals for

When to send a patient our way

If a foot or ankle problem needs more than first-line care - imaging, injection, surgical opinion or a genuine second opinion - we're set up for it.

  • Surgical assessment and second opinions for bunions, hallux rigidus, hammer toes and complex deformity
  • Persistent or previously treated heel, forefoot and ankle pain
  • Diabetic and high-risk foot, including wound and ulcer management (NDIS registered)
  • Injection therapy and shockwave for chronic tendinopathy and soft-tissue pain
  • Sports and biomechanical injuries requiring advanced assessment
  • Children's foot and gait concerns

Common Questions

Referral FAQs

Do you report back to the referring practitioner?

Yes. We provide structured correspondence on assessment findings and the management plan, and we refer the patient back to your care. Co-management is the default, not the exception.

Can Bexley Podiatry perform foot and ankle surgery in-clinic?

In-scope minor procedures - such as nail surgery under local anaesthetic - are performed in-clinic by our podiatric surgical registrar. Major or reconstructive surgery is worked up here and referred to an appropriate specialist surgeon; we coordinate that pathway.

Is a GP referral required, and what about bulk billing?

A referral is welcome but not mandatory for most podiatry appointments. Eligible patients on a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan can be bulk billed for the covered visits - ask us or note it on the referral.

How quickly will an urgent referral be seen?

Mark the referral urgent and we will endeavour to see the patient as promptly as possible. For time-critical concerns, please also phone the clinic on 1300 345 226 so we can prioritise the booking.

How should I send imaging or clinical history?

Add the key history in the notes field of the form, or send imaging and correspondence by fax ((02) 8367 6434) or email (info@bexleypodiatry.com.au) quoting the patient's name and date of birth.
