Dr Mohamed Elbana

BHSc, MPodMed, MSc (Pod Surg) Dist., ACPS Registrar

Dr Mohamed Elbana is a Sydney podiatrist and podiatric surgical registrar with a particular interest in persistent pain, complex foot and ankle conditions, and presentations that have been difficult to diagnose or resolve. Many of his patients come to him from Bexley, the St George area and across southern Sydney, often having already tried other treatments without lasting relief. They are looking for a clearer diagnosis and a treatment plan that addresses the underlying causes of their symptoms.

He cares for patients of all ages - children with foot, gait and developmental concerns through to adults with sporting and musculoskeletal injuries, persistent foot pain and complex foot and ankle conditions, including diabetes-related foot complications. His starting point is always the same: to identify what's driving the problem before treating it. Every patient receives a thorough assessment and a plan built around their goals - and where they've been referred, Dr Elbana keeps the referring practitioner informed throughout.

That plan might involve rehabilitation, footwear and activity advice, custom orthotics, shockwave therapy, ultrasound-guided injections or minor surgical procedures. Dr Elbana is also an endorsed podiatrist for scheduled medicines, allowing him to prescribe approved medicines within his scope of practice where clinically appropriate.

As a registrar with the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons, Dr Elbana is undertaking advanced postgraduate training in foot and ankle surgery. This further develops his expertise in assessing complex foot and ankle conditions and guiding patients through both conservative and surgical treatment options. Where surgery may be appropriate, patients can be confident they have been carefully assessed and fully informed before any decision is made.

Dr Elbana holds a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Podiatric Medicine, both from Western Sydney University, and a Master of Science (Podiatric Surgery) with Distinction from Queen Margaret University in Scotland. Alongside his clinical work he teaches podiatry students at Western Sydney University, delivers continuing professional development (CPD) education for practising podiatrists, and presents at professional conferences.

His practice is built around careful diagnosis, evidence-informed care, and helping patients make confident decisions about their treatment. He takes the time to understand what's going on, explain it in plain language, and involve patients in every decision - because the right treatment starts with the right diagnosis.
